My mother language is Portuguese, Brazilian variant.

Please bear in mind that I cannot translate into European Portuguese, since I am not a native speaker of European Portuguese, and I have not been exposed enough to European Portuguese to write fluently in that language variety.

As a general rule, professional translators deliver best results when they are native speakers of their target language (language into which they translate).

Portuguese is the official language in both Brazil and Portugal, but each of these countries has very specific language varieties that have evolved separately throughout the centuries. If you want your materials to be translated with the appropriate style and register (especially in the case of marketing and legal documents and other materials for publication), you will need a translator who is a native speaker of that particular variety. This is a minimum requirement for high quality professional translation services.

Other Languages

I have been trained in terminology of social sciences in French and Spanish, which I speak at an intermediate level. However, despite having gathered some experience with Spanish to Portuguese legal translation (including a book translation), I focus on just the two language pairs mentioned above. I have a strong belief that a translator tends to improve in quality over time by concentrating on just a few languages and subjects of specialization. In addition, being a speaker of French and Spanish, this makes me a better researcher of terminology than most Portuguese translators who do not speak other languages besides their native and source languages. This means that I can quickly research difficult terms using one of my C-languages for terminology support, thus adding value to the translation services that I provide to you or your company.
